Hunt County Municipal Court Warrants
City courts in Hunt County handle their own ordinance, traffic, and Class C matters. A missed court date or failure to comply can produce a city-held warrant or capias pro fine. The municipal clerk, not a countywide list, controls the status and local remedy.
A city record may not appear on the Sheriff’s public pages. The city police can serve warrants, but the court that issued the order decides whether payment, bond, reset, or recall is accepted.

Five incorporated places in the research operate municipal courts. The table names the court types and published phone routes. For an unincorporated matter or a precinct citation, start with the Justice of the Peace office on the ticket instead.
Hunt County Cities With Municipal Courts
Each city holds its own records. A phone number below is a court contact where published; for Wolfe City, the research located a police number but no separate warrant line.

Hunt County City Court Warrant Limits
A Greenville list cannot establish whether a Commerce or Quinlan matter is open. A Commerce citation portal cannot search a district felony or JP case. The city court is a separate record keeper even when the Sheriff or a constable serves its process.
For county cases, the County Clerk handles County Court at Law misdemeanor files and the District Clerk handles district-court records. The county-wide routing steps are on the Hunt County warrant records home page.
Checking a Municipal Court Warrant
Greenville asks for full name and date of birth when a person requests warrant confirmation. Commerce’s portal offers several identifiers and its clerk answers warrant questions. Caddo Mills, Quinlan, and Wolfe City rely on their court instructions and direct contact. Police availability does not extend municipal court hours.
- Use the city’s linked list or search portal when one is available.
- Call the municipal clerk with the citation or cause number and the name on the notice.
- Ask whether the result is an FTA warrant, capias, or capias pro fine.
- Confirm payment, reset, appearance, or recall steps before sending money or visiting.
Hunt County Portal Warrant Paths
Commerce’s Open Warrants page says an open city warrant should be handled through its court and lists cash, money order, and card payment, with a 3 percent card charge. It also links the Tyler search portal. Those details belong to Commerce only.
The official Commerce Open Warrants page is shown here as a city source, not a county system.
Other cities have their own payment rules and should be checked separately.
Inside a Municipal Court Warrant
Hunt County cities do not share one municipal warrant number scheme or status code list. The court can explain the reference on a citation and tell the reader whether the matter is active, recalled, or paid. A balance alone does not show whether the warrant was withdrawn.
| Reference | CITY FORMAT VARIES Use the citation or cause number from the notice. |
|---|---|
| Charge | Traffic, ordinance, or Class C case reason. |
| Issuing court | The named city Municipal Court. |
| Fine or bond | Case-specific total and accepted method. |
| Status | Ask whether issued, served, paid, recalled, or cleared. |
Hunt County Municipal Warrant Fees
Published charges vary by city and by payment type. Commerce lists a 3 percent card charge. Greenville’s municipal code lists a $50 fee for issuance or service of a failure-to-appear or violation-of-promise-to-appear warrant. Caddo Mills lists a 3.5 percent card fee for eligible online citation payments. These fees do not equal a bond or total case balance.
Ask the clerk to confirm current costs and whether paying a fine acts as a plea or resolves the underlying case.
How to Resolve a Municipal Court Warrant
Ask the issuing city court what it will accept. Greenville distinguishes at-large warrants from capias pro fine; Commerce describes full payment and possible payment plans; other cities provide their own citation or plea options. A reset request, payment, or appearance may need court approval before the record changes.
- Get the court’s current warrant label and case balance.
- Ask about payment in full, a plan, a reset, bond, or a hearing.
- Use the court’s own payment route and keep the receipt.
- Request written confirmation of recall and any new court date.
Warning: A portal receipt does not by itself prove recall; confirm the court’s record and ask whether it sent any separate state compliance update.
Hunt County Municipal Warrant Myth
Myth: no hit on the Sheriff page means there is no city warrant. Fact: the county Sheriff publishes no countywide warrant search, and municipal courts keep separate records. A Greenville list cannot cover the five city courts, JP precincts, County Courts at Law, and district cases all at once.
Call the court that issued the citation and confirm status before relying on a search result. The Most Wanted program is another separate system and does not answer a personal court-status question.
